  • How do I know if I have a drinking problem? Drinking is a problem if it causes trouble in your relationships, in school, in social activities, or in how you think and feel. If you believe you have a problem with alcohol please call our toll-free number. One of our highly trained addiction professionals will speak with you about your drinking problems and assess your personal recovery needs.
  • Oral contraceptives (birth control pills) slow down the rate at which alcohol is removed from the body; a woman who is on the pill can expect to feel intoxicated for a longer time than a woman that is not taking the pill.
  • Youth who drink alcohol are more likely to experience physical and sexual assault.
  • A significant amount of animal research has reported that rodent infants are susceptible to the reinforcing effects of alcohol; scientists have also noted that when rodents are exposed to alcohol in infancy, it can affect their responsiveness to alcohol later in life.
